The principal areas of research at both Ulster University and Queen’s University include encryption, security mechanisms against attack, intelligent agents, data mining, smart card technologies, and biometric authentication, with world-recognised expertise in these fields.

The Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT)

CSIT is the Innovation and Knowledge Centre for the UK (IKC) for cyber security.  Part of Queen’s University Belfast, CSIT is bringing together research specialists in complementary fields such as data encryption, network security systems, wireless enabled security systems and intelligent surveillance technology to create the security infrastructure increasingly required by a diverse range of industries.

Applications include financial services, connected health, e-businesses, event security, public transport, counter terrorism, smart cards, internet applications software, e-procurement and e-banking, mobile communications, and security mechanisms against attack.
